The nose began with fresh, airy notes of apple, glue, and pine (‘a herb garden near a forest’) but like the first drops of summer rain, lumps of sweetness landed (honey, toffee, caramel, marzipan, crème brûlée, vanilla, banana chips, candy floss). The palate was a straightforward bittersweet balance – toffee apples, cinnamon Danish, iced caramels and white chocolate flouncing around the more straight-faced wallflowers of dry wood, black tea and mocha. The reduced nose was refreshing and inviting - like summer. The palate was thinner, but not anorexic – citrus and spice tingling the toasted marshmallow and coconut wafer sweetness. Ayrshire grain whisky.
